Moharana reign continues in State Karate meet

Santosh Kumar Moharana won the open kumite title for the seventh time in the State Senior Karate Championship, the 23rd edition of which concluded here at Utkal Karate School today. Deepak Kumar Samantaray emerged champion in open kata category, while Valena Valentina won the top honour in women`s kata section. Bhubaneswar retained the team title, while Kurda finished runners-up.

RESULTS:

Women individual kata:
1. Valena Valentian (BBSR), 2. Jaminee Mishra (Puri), 3. Sangeeta S Mallick (BBSR) and Anusuya Behera (Cuttack).
Below 50kg Women kumite: 1. Valena Valentina, Sangeet S Mallick, 3. Anusuya Behera.
Below 74kg men kumite: 1. Suryakanta Pradhan (BBSR), 2. Chandra Takri (Koraput), 3. Umakant Senapati (Khurda), Bijay Samal (Angul).
Above 84kg men kumite: 1. Rajib Kumar Singh (Rourkela), 2. Sitansu Mohapatra (Puri).
Men open kumite: 1. Santosh Moharana (BBSR), 2. Suryakanta Pradhan, 3. Sagar Palo and Sakti Prasad Mishra (both Cuttack).
Men individual kata: 1. Deepak Kumar Samantara (Khurda), 2. Toofan Badatya (Khurda), 3. Santosh Moharana and Umakant Senapati.
Below 55kg kumite: 1. Dillip Kumar Jena (BBSR), 2. Susant K Panda (BBSR), 3. Toofan Badatya and Harekrishna Das (BBSR).
Below 61kg men kumite: 1. Santosh Moharana, 2. Santosh Sahoo (Ganjam), 3. Ajay Behera (Cuttack) and Hridaya Saabar (Bolangir).
Below 67kg men kumite: 1 Jitendra Sahu (BBSR), 2. Ratikanta Marandi (BBSR), 3. Sameer Sanu Dalai (BBSR) and Deepak Samantara.
Below 84kg men kumite: 1. Satyasri Jena (BBSR), 2. Sandeep Mohanty (BBSR), 3. Sagar Palo and Trilochan Behera (Cuttack).
Men team kata: 1. Khurda, 2. Cuttack, 3. Ganjam and Koraput.
Team championship: 1. Bhubaneswar, 2. Khurda.
